Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4

Extract From Print Text

On the evening of Wednesday 10th March 2021, a pair of Royal Air Force Typhoons from 1(F) Squadron on Operation SHADER flew east from RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus. Their mission: to destroy several of the last remaining hideouts of ISIS in the Makhmur Mountain range in north-eastern Iraq.

These strikes marked the first employment of the Storm Shadow on operations from the Typhoon, with 1(F) Squadron living up to their motto “In Omnibus Princeps” - First in All Things.

“Long Rifle” is the airborne codeword indicating the release of a long-range air to surface missile, such as the Storm Shadow. Neil Hipkiss’s painting, commissioned by the Officers of 1(F) Squadron and supported by MBDA, depicts ZK364 on the night of the first strike carrying two Storm Shadow missiles.....
